Music & Animation: Sundeep Toor & "Hey U" by Basement Jaxx Vs. Metropole Orkest

I love music. From pop to rock, jazz to classical, hip-hop to R & B, I like it all. I started studying music when I was 10 years old, and that continued through college, and beyond. This is not a music-centric blog, but when I hear something I want to share, it’s a perfect platform for doing so.

I stumbled on this video, and I think it’s a perfect marriage of animation and music. Sundeep Toor is an animator/illustrator, and he did an amazing job.

The song Hey U by Basement Jaxx vs. Metropole Orkest is fantastic. After hearing it, I loved it so much that I bought it at amazon.com.

I am familiar with Basement Jaxx work as a remixer, and have to admit that they are brilliant composers as well.

While going through spotify one day 8 weeks ago, I came across the new Basement Jaxx album. I've always been a fan of their dance music, but hearing their tracks being composed by the metropole orkest just blew my mind.

While listening to the album, the 'Hey U' track in particular caught my attention and ideas came flooding in of a parade of exotic animals performing the track. I felt compelled to animate something and here is the finished project.

Enjoy.
