The Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has a spirit page where you can access different tools to change you profile picture, on various social networking platforms, to reflect a purple hue.
GLAAD is working with organizations including the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the PACER Center, GLSEN, GSA Network, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), PFLAG and The Trevor Project as part of National Bullying Prevention Month to inspire Americans to wear purple on Spirit Day. In addition to wearing purple on October 20, supporters will be changing their Facebook and Twitter photos purple today through October 20 by using free applications to turn profile photos purple.
Facebook is adopting the color purple for some of their pages today too.
Two of Facebook's Pages, Facebook Diversity andFacebook Safety, will show their support for Spirit Day by adopting purple profile pictures come Thursday.
"On Thursday, Oct. 20, we encourage you to wear purple as a sign of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth and to speak out against bullying," Facebook Diversity wrote in a status update.
I'm going to do my best to make sure that every day is spirit day here. I'm not loving the purple blog so I'm going to have to experiment with other colors - but if you have ideas let me know. Hopefully we’ll make every day spirit day going forward (minus the purple). Cheers!
