Whether you’re a believer or a non-believer, on this day that’s meant to celebrate the birth of Christ, I always hope that people will reflect on the life personified by the myths and legends that inform our knowledge of Jesus.
Whether you’re a believer or a non-believer, you’re online, and whether you were seeking out my blog, or stumbled here by following a link, or you’re here completely by accident, I want to wish you a very merry Christmas.
There’s a huge political movement in the United States that has been built on wholesale lies and misrepresentations, about what scripture says about my LGBT brothers and sisters. Jesus never uttered a single solitary word about homosexuality. Yet businesses that call themselves “family” organizations raise millions of dollars every year to slander, demonize, and instill fear in their followers, about my LGBT family members.
To those who think that the Holy Bible is the inspiration for our Constitution, and our laws, and gives you cover to hate, I’ve got a message for you. Go back and study scripture, you’ve got it all wrong. On Christmas day I will suppress the anger and disdain I have for you, though to be honest, I can only look at false prophets with pity.
As we approach a new year, and after experiencing a year that was marked by tremendous ups and downs, there is a whiff of optimism in the air. I hope that it’s real, and that for everyone, the next year will be marked with nothing but highs.
Have a great Christmas day and keep reaching for the stars!
