Chris Christie Is The Villain - Not The Victim

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is at the center of 3 scandals that are dimming his once rising star.

The state of New Jersey has been in the news of late, because the super-sized Governor and presidential wanna-be, is embroiled in several scandals.

It’s alleged that Governor Chris Christie’s “staff” was responsible for creating four days of bumper to bumper traffic on the world’s busiest bridge, to punish a local mayor due to his failure to endorse Christie in his 2013 re-election bid.

In addition, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer has accused the garden state’s Lieutenant Governor of extortion, after the Mayor refused to throw her support behind a large development project that would financially benefit Christie’s cronies. And millions of dollars of federal funds,  earmarked for rebuilding the state’s infrastructure, in the wake of super-storm Sandy, were allocated to constructing a senior citizen housing development, in a town that was largely unaffected by the storm.

The national media often characterize New Jersey’s Governor as the front-runner in the 2016 GOP sweepstakes to be the party’s nominee for President, and if the Governor himself is found to be culpable in any of these scandals, his presidential ambitions will be squashed.

The U.S. Attorney is investigating these allegations, along with the New Jersey state legislature, so the truth will eventually come out.

The most troubling aspect of these allegations, is the Governor’s failure to take complete responsibility for these scandals, and his constantly changing explanation, about what he knew and when he knew it.

The Governor was quick to throw his staff under the bus, in a nationally televised press conference, when he called his loyal lieutenant’s liars. As the Christie administration unfairly casts Bridget Kelly and David Wildstein as the villains in “Bridgegate,” and the national media complies with their false assertion, the fact of the matter is that Kelly and Wildstein were carrying out orders from on high. Bridget Kelly and David Wildstein have been unfairly tarred and feathered, because they displayed the very loyalty, that the Governor allegedly demands of his staff.

Chris Christie would best serve the people of New Jersey if he stopped attacking the media, and ceased the bullying of his loyal friends and staffers.

The New Jersey Governor is in big trouble, and there’s a parallel in Greek mythology. When Icarus flew too close to the sun, his wings melted, and he fell into the sea.

Whether a federal prosecutor finds that Chris Christie abused his power as the state’s chief executive, and ordered the traffic jam or not, the Governor is completely responsible for these transgressions.

Chris Christie’s wings are melting, and he’s in danger of making a big splash and tidal wave, when he too falls into the metaphorical sea.

Horny Holy Huckabee Is Wrongly Obsessed With Sex

Former Governor Mike Huckabee is horny, holy, and wrongly obsessed with sex.

The Republican party has long been obsessed with sex. Examples include Rick Santorum comparing gay sex to bestiality, or Todd Aiken claiming that “legitimate rape” doesn’t lead to pregnancies, or Rep. Steve Pearce (R-NM) imploring that a “wife is to voluntarily submit” to a husband. These brilliant GOP grand poobahs alienate the electorate with views related to sex that originated in the nineteenth century.

The latest Republican asshole to open his mouth and insert foot is the former governor of Arkansas and horny holy Baptist preacher, the one and only Mike Huckabee. Huckabee said:
“I think it’s time Republicans no longer accept listening to the Democrats talk about a 'war on women.' The fact is the Republicans don’t have a war on women, they have a war for women, to empower them to be something other than victims of their gender.”
"If the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it."
Huckabee’s assertion that women take birth control pills because they can’t control their libido is outrageous and insane. It’s a grossly inaccurate mischaracterization of women and birth control, and it illustrates why old white men need to stay out of any debate surrounding women’s reproductive health.

When Huckabee was asked if he wanted to take back his asinine comments, he said no unequivocally. [emphasis mine]
"God gave us sexual drive. It’s not something dirty. It isn’t vulgar. It’s a wonderful gift from God in the context of a relationship between a man and a woman who have committed to each other as life partners. That’s a good thing. There’s nothing unholy or untoward about that.”
I think that Huckabee’s belief that “there’s nothing unholy or untoward about” having a sex drive, as long as the two individuals are a straight married couple, is homophobic, sexist, idiotic, unrealistic, and misogynistic. And there’s nothing holy about that.

Right-Winger O’Reilly Is Ignorant, Inhumane, And Just Plain Wrong

President Obama sat down with right-wing Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly for a pre-Super Bowl interview.

The multi-millionaire Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly interviewed President Obama prior to last Sunday’s NFL Super Bowl (where the Seattle Seahawks routed the Denver Broncos 43 - 8).

The interview was remarkable to me because of the disrespect for the President and the office, that was on full display for everyone to see. Fellow Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera criticized O’Reilly and his demeanor, which O’Reilly dismissed.
"It takes a certain skill to pose questions in a factual way and be persistent without being disrespectful."
He wasn’t just disrespectful, he was downright rude. One exchange surprised me because O’Reilly had no problem showing his ignorance about policy matters, and his disdain for the President.

During the course of the interview, O’Reilly said:
"I think that you are much more friendly to a nanny state than I am. I’m more of a self-reliance guy. You’re more of a big-government will solve your problems guy."
O’Reilly’s bullshit statement personifies why the majority of Americans hold the Republican party in such disdain.

When O’Reilly says he’s a “self-reliance” guy, he is stating that social security and medicare, food stamps, unemployment insurance, and affordable healthcare, embody European socialism, and in his worldview that’s an awful thing. He says government regulations are a function of our nanny state, and that people should pull themselves up by their bootstraps, and that government shouldn’t proffer a helping hand.

I have to state the obvious, and that’s the fact that O’Reilly is just like the rest of us mortal Americans. In spite of his false characterization that he’s a self-reliant guy, he benefits every day from the helping hand of government. He drives on roads that are built and maintained by the government, he uses the home mortgage deduction when he files his federal income tax return, and he relies on the FAA to regulate and maintain airline safety, just to name a few benefits that he currently enjoys.

This bloviating blowhard can refer to good government programs that work as liberal stupidity, while most intelligent Americans know that a government helping-hand isn’t just right, it’s downright humane.
