Consorting With The Enemy: Trump’s Twisted Foreign Policy

Consorting With The Enemy: Donald Trump’s Twisted Foreign Policy

Donald Trump will be boarding Air Force One today for his first trip abroad as the president of the United States. With no legislative achievements, no new trade deals, no infrastructure announcements, no tax cuts, or any accomplishments, he’s taking his dog and pony show on the road. The first country on The Bungling Brothers – Trump Pence Three Ring Circus Tour  is Saudi Arabia.

All Aboard – First Stop Riyadh

How excited is the Al-Saud royal family for this visit? How would you feel if the most famous Islamophobe in the world was coming to visit you? Regardless, they’re pulling out all the stops. They will welcome Donald Trump with open arms, and he will return their hugs and kisses on the cheek with bushels of military equipment and tons of arms (reportedly $110.0 billion dollars worth).

Trump has expressed admiration for Saddam Hussein, Kim Jong-Un, and Vladimir Putin. The Saudi Crown Prince is no slouch in the dictator department himself. Human rights be damned – Trump is probably wetting himself with excitement. If the Saudis kiss Trump’s ass all the better.

Separating Fact From Fiction Amid The Obamacare Debate

President Barack Obama signs the Affordable Care Act into law on March 23, 2010.

The Republican Party declared war on the Kenyan born Muslim American president in 2009 that persists today, with specious claims about Obamacare and fuzzy math surrounding their own plan.

A fact is indisputable and reflects certainty. We can support a statement of fact by citing empirical evidence, academic observations, professional studies and expert opinion.

Disseminating biased or misleading information to justify a political point of view is propaganda of the worst order. Propaganda relies on alternative facts, misinformation and hyperbole. The Republican Party has been engaged in a coordinated and lengthy propaganda campaign to denigrate and discredit president Barack Obama and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) which he signed into law on March 23, 2010.

It’s hard for me to believe, but I’m here to tell you that the gay community and the trans community, are under attack. Opponents of LGBT civil rights are determined to terrorize us and take away the few small gains we’ve made in the last few years.

The Texas Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case that challenges extending spousal benefits to same-sex couples.

The Supreme Court (SCOTUS) refused to hear an appeal related to transgender bathroom rights filed by a trans high school student. SCOTUS remanded the case back to the lower court, which invalidates the Obama era education guidelines to be sensitive to the needs of transgender students in public schools.

In addition to the threats to our hard fought LGBT civil rights, it seems as if our government and political institutions are being threatened too.

Since the inauguration of Donald Trump, we’ve seen nothing but chaos, lies, misdeeds, and misinformation, coming from the White House. The news has been grim.

If you’re gay or African-American or a native spanish speaker, she claims that you have an unfair advantage among ‘liberals.’ She’s not clear about what you gain from that advantage, but this middle class woman makes it clear that she wants to preserve the advantages that accompany ‘white privilege.’

She’s unsympathetic to transgender issues because it’s a life choice’" she doesn’t agree with. “Do we really need to pander to the trans community and their whims? I say no,” she exclaims.

Trump Chose Gay Rights Over State Sanctioned Bigotry

Donald Trump in the Oval Office holds up the signed executive order for everyone to see.

When Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee during his confirmation hearing, he promised to protect the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans. I was watching the hearing and heard him say that with my own ears and I laughed. While I was surprised, I knew better than to give him credit for evolving and changing his mind on LGBT issues.

In Donald Trump’s America Gay And Sexist Slurs Are Back

In Donald Trump's America homophobia and sexism is back - American flag on the prairie.

I was ten years old and in the fifth grade when I first heard another kid use “gay” and “fag”in a derogatory way as hateful slurs. I don’t know if this is still true, but back then, ten-year-olds didn’t grasp the implications of WHAT they were saying and were repeating gay slurs they heard at home. Fifth graders knew that calling people a "homo" or “gay” or a “fag” was bad, and also knew that those particular terms were the worst words you could use that didn't cause your teacher to call home to tell your parents (unlike using the "F" word).

"Nasty Woman" San Francisco Women's March 2017 film short - cover art -

I proudly marched in solidarity with Bay Area women and everyone who participated in the San Francisco Women's March  on January 21, 2017.

The San Francisco Police Department estimated over one hundred thousand people took to the soaking wet streets to protest against Donald Trump and his sexist and nativist bigotry. Every age group was represented among the marchers, and the largest contingent appeared to be cisgender women.

I commissioned a very gay (and fierce) informal opinion poll Saturday morning when I went out for breakfast in the Castro, and asked a few gay men to share their thoughts about Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Gay Men Have An Opinion…Love Trumps Hate

A couple guys said they were impressed by the Trump women. One friend gushed, “Jackie Ho looked gorgeous!”

“You mean Melania Trump,” I asked.

As a gay man, I’m acutely aware that the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community is feeling nervous right now, because I’m feeling anxious too. There are lots of gay ‘survival guides’ online related to surviving the impending ‘climate change’ that’s happening in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately those guides do nothing to alleviate my fears.

I share a true story about me, my mother, a battle axe, and vodka.

by Roy Steele

When I was sixteen years old I had no idea that I was gay, despite struggling with my sexual identity. At that age I had other priorities in my life, and coming out or not coming out, wasn’t a priority.

One afternoon I was at a novelty store and I saw some bottle locks for sale. They were big, colorful, and round, with a numbered dial on the top of the ‘lock.’ It was a bottle cap with a rudimentary lock that could be placed on any bottle with a twist top, to prevent access to whatever was stored in the bottle. Without the combination, you couldn’t pour the liquid (liquor) out of the bottle into a glass.
