- Supervisor Bevan Dufty is in 7th place in a 16 candidate race for San Francisco Mayor. It’s a ranked choice election, so while his chances are very slim, he’s still in the race.
- Mayor Annise Parker was re-elected without a runoff election, giving her nearly 51% of the vote in a general election where she faced 5 opponents. Parker, an out lesbian, was first elected in 2009 and will be able to run for one more 2-year term in 2013.
- Alex Morse, 22, was elected Mayor of Holyoke, Mass. He is the city’s youngest and first openly gay Mayor.
- Sally Clark, an incumbent Seattle City Council member, easily defeated former public-access television station manager Dian Ferguson
- Tom Rasmussen was re-elected to the Seattle City Council
- Ryan Mello easily defeated perennial candidate Will Baker in the run-off for the Tacoma Washington council’s at-large District 8 seat.
- Mayor Tim Eustace of Maywood, N.J., was elected to the New Jersey State Assembly, becoming the first openly gay non-incumbent to win a seat in the legislature
- Daniel Hernandez Jr., a hero of the Jan. 8 shooting in Tucson, Arizona was elected to fill a vacancy on the Sunnyside Unified School District governing board, with 61.8 percent of the vote
- Del. Adam Ebbin (D-Arlington) was elected as Virginia's first openly gay State Senator
- Patrick Forrest (R-Fairfax) lost his race for Virginia State Senate
- Zach Adamson, was the first openly gay man elected to the Indianapolis, Indiana City Council
- LaWana Mayfield, is the first out LGBT City Council member in Charlotte, N.C.
- Caitlin Copple, is the first openly gay man or woman to be elected to the Missoula, Montana City Council
- Rory Neuner, lost her race for the Lansing, MI City Council
- Pam Miller lost her race for the Savannah, GA City Council
- Chris Seelbach is the first openly LGBT city council member.in Cincinnati, Ohio
- Kecia Cunningham, who was first elected in 1999 and was the first African-American openly gay elected official in Georgia, ran unopposed for Decatur City Commissioner
- Alan Tart a Milton City Councilman lost his race with 43.07 percent of the vote
- Kenneth DeLeon ran for the East Point Georgia City Council representing Ward C and lost his race
- Mike Laster is the first openly gay man elected to the Houston City Council
- Lance Rhodes an for the East Point Georgia City Council and received 49.57 percent of the vote. Under Georgia law, if no candidate in a race receives 50 percent plus one vote, the top two compete in a runoff. He was the top vote getter and will be facing a run off.
- Michael Smith was elected to the Largo Florida City Commission, defeating Mary Gray Black, who has a history of anti-gay and anti-trans activism on the commission.
