TV Talk: Morally Bankrupt Huckabee Rushes To Duggar's Defense

Huckabee and the Duggar’s are counting on “praying away” the child predator problems, just like they counsel people to “pray away the gay,” which has been found to be soul destroying and totally ineffective.

Right-wing extremists and so-called social conservatives never fail to disappoint.

That psuedo-Christian pack of wolves falsely claim that gay and transgender people should be stripped of our civil rights, because we’re all child predators. Is it a surprise that one of their own, a star of an alleged Christian family reality television show, got away with being an actual child predator?

I think not.

In Touch magazine reports that reality television star Josh Duggar, of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting,” molested several young girls when he was a teenager.

TLC suspended airing the show after these facts were made public.

Jim Bob Duggar, the Duggar family patriarch, knew that his son was abusing children, and waited over a year before reporting the crimes to the police.
What’s more, Jim Bob informed the elders of his church about Joshua’s actions and they waited three months before contacting authorities. The explosive new information is contained in a Springdale, Ark., police report obtained by In Touch magazine.
The report has been hidden since 2006 and was just obtained by the mag through a Freedom of information Act request. Jim Bob also refused to allow police to interview Josh when they opened a felony investigation in 2006. The Duggars star on TLC’s hit show 19 Kids and Counting.
In Touch magazine first broke the news of the Duggars’ underage sexual molestation scandal in this week’s magazine. (Note: Josh’s name is redacted from the police report but In Touch has confirmed the passages that refer to him.)
Other bombshells in the police report are: Josh Duggar was investigated for multiple sex offenses — including forcible fondling — against five minors. Some of the alleged offenses investigated were felonies. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were interviewed by the Springdale Police department on Dec. 12, 2006. The report says that James told police he was alerted in March, 2002 by a female minor that Josh — who turned 14-years-old that month — had been touching her breasts and genitals while she slept. This allegedly happened on multiple occasions. In 2006, Jim Bob told police that in July, 2002 Josh admitted to fondling a minor’s breasts while she slept. “James said that they disciplined (redacted, Josh) after this incident.” The family did not alert authorities.
Jim Bob told police in 2006 that when Josh returned home in 2003, Jim Bob, accompanied by some of his church elders, took Josh to Arkansas State Trooper, Jim Hutchens. Jim Bob knew Hutchens personally. Hutchens did not take any official action and instead gave Josh a “very stern talk.” As In Touch magazine reports exclusively in this week’s issue, Hutchens is now serving 56-years in prison for child pornography. He took no action on the Duggar case.
Josh Duggar resigned from his job as a Washington lobbyist on Thursday, and was employed by the anti-gay right-wing hate group, led by Tony Perkins at the Family Besmirch Council.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar said, “Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives. When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked. We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before.”

Since when is child sexual abuse or molestation, which others might construe as rape, characterized as “teenage mistakes.” Kelsey Reese (@KelseyEReese) tweeted “A ‘teenage mistake’ is forgetting to do your homework or missing curfew, NOT molesting your sisters. This makes me sick.”

I’m OUTRAGED by these people, and their defenders, and the hypocrisy that they represent.

Of course Mike ‘Holy Horny’ Huckabee rushed to the Duggar’s defense, and released a statement of support that was posted on his Facebook page. How can ANYONE defend child sexual abuse?
Janet and I want to affirm our support for the Duggar family. Josh’s actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, ‘inexcusable,’ but that doesn’t mean ‘unforgivable.’
No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story. Good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things.
Those who have enjoyed revealing this long ago sins in order to discredit the Duggar family have actually revealed their own insensitive bloodthirst….
They are no more perfect a family than any family, but their Christian witness is not marred in our eyes because following Christ is not a declaration of our perfection, but of HIS perfection. It is precisely because we are all sinners that we need His grace and His forgiveness.
I couldn’t help myself, and had to respond to his statement.
Mr. Huckabee, that’s nice that you want to stand by your friends. You could have chosen to do that in a private way, but instead opted to make a public statement on Facebook. This is a fine example of why you are unqualified to be President of our country, or president of your local garden club. You are not a leader, you are an insensitive and divisive politician, with no moral authority whatsoever. You and the Duggar’s are the first out of the gate to lie and make incendiary and inflammatory statements about LGBTQ people because of who they love, while you embrace a child molester and a monster, who likely destroyed the spirit of most of his victims. You disgust me. I’m glad that you can run to the Duggar’s for support, because you don’t have any support anywhere else. Have a nice day. Roy Steele
This is reason number one hundred sixty seven thousand, why religion and politics are incompatible.

When I first heard about this I did have a little empathy for Josh, and then I remembered where he worked, and how vocal he and his family are in trying to abridge LGBT people of their civil rights, and the empathy evaporated immediately.

I’m only human. Too bad the same can’t be said for Josh Duggar.

straight talk in a queer world.
